Moving into Stillness

24 November, AlpenRetreat Austria

“You don’t have to sit outside in the dark. If, however, you want to look at the stars, you will find that darkness is necessary. But the stars neither require nor demand it.”

– Annie Dillard

As we move towards Winter it's important to honour the changes in the seasonal rhythms. This is essential for our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, as each season carries its own energy and invitation for inner alignment. Winter, governed by the Water Element, calls us inward—toward silence, stillness, and deep rest  Just as nature slows down and conserves energy, Winter invites us to embrace quietude, to trust the unseen, and replenish our reserves before our rebirth in Spring.

The Water Element symbolises flow, depth, and resilience. It is receptive, deep, yin —that of the feminine. It's the energy of our Womb/Hara and the connection to our ancestors. It represents our original essence, the seed, and the embryo.  Water is purification, intuition, mystery, the subconscious, and our psychic ability.

When aligned and in balance the Water Element allows us to be comfortable in our bodies and environment. We experience an innate joy of being that is not dependent on external factors. We are spontaneous and able to deal with any situation. We become wise, courageous, determined, gentle, loving, and compassionate.

As the days get shorter and the nights longer, the energy of Winter and the Water Element - the depth of our inner world- becomes more accessible.  It's a place we often avoid. But when we reconnect with this darkness, we discover a rich, fertile place with great potential for healing, renewal, and growth.

During our day together, we will explore more about the energy of Winter and the Water Element through our breath, movement, energy medicine, meditation, and nature. We will gain new insights and learn practical ways to embody the beautiful energy of the Water Element in our everyday lives.

"Working with the raw natural elements is a process of connecting with the external elements and internalising their qualities. Doing this ultimately leads to connection with the essence of the elements which, in the shamanic path, is considered part of the Soul. At this level, connecting is healing"

- Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche

Debbie

After facing many challenges in my younger (and not so younger!) years, I've been on a lifetime journey to discover what it really means to be healthy and happy. I was introduced to qigong and energy work very early on in my life, and since then, I've been on a path of self-discovery.

In a world full of noise, the simplest things—like breath, movement, self-enquiry, and time in nature—are the most powerful. Nature has everything we need; our bodies are magic, our minds are unlimited. We just need to remember, reconnect, and return to our natural state of being

I'm passionate about sharing these simple teachings with others, as they have made a huge difference in my life. It's not about knowing more intellectually; it's about accessing the knowing and innate intelligence that we already have.

I'm a Qigong, Breathwork, Kundalini Yoga, Hatha & Traditional Tantra teacher &  Energy Medicine Practitioner. I'm currently studying (and living) Biomancy, Feminine Magic, and the Wim Hof Method.
